| The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) notified tax return forms for the Financial Year (FY) 2016-17 on March 31, 2017. The government also mandated quoting of Aadhaar number/ Aadhaar enrolment number while filing the tax return if the same is filed on or after July 1, 2017. As per a recent notification dated May 11, 2017, relief from obtaining Aadhaar has been provided to below taxpayers: * Taxpayer residing in the states of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Meghalaya; * A Non-resident taxpayer as per Income-tax Act, 1961; * A taxpayer of the age of eighty years or more at any time during the previous year; * A taxpayer who is not a citizen of India.
