| | Our happiness and excitement of having not just one, but two bundles of joy was soon replaced with heartbreak and torment when we saw the condition they were in after they were born. Our twins, who are just over a month old, are afflicted with combined severe immunodeficiency, which means that they are highly susceptible to contracting serious infections. Both are now battling for their lives and it kills me to see them cry and endure so much pain even before they have learned to talk. They are in a critical condition while on ventilator support, and require immediate bone marrow transplantation (BMT) and intense supportive care and medication. | |
